WHERE IS GARDOUSSEL RETREAT? Directions to Gardoussel by road
Gardoussel Retreat is situated about 85 km North West of Nîmes and 55 km West of Alès, not to be confused with Arles ('arl') which is in the same department. We are a small hamlet called Gardoussel, just 1 km from the village of St Andre de Valborgne in the Gard department, which makes up part of the Languedoc region.
HOW TO GET HERE
There are a number of ways of getting to us. The fastest, simplest option is to fly to Nimes from Stansted or Luton (just outside London), or Liverpool, then get a shared taxi. You can also get to us from the airports by public transport. Eurostar runs a service from London or Paris to Avignon or Nîmes which takes 6 hours; you can then get a train or bus to St Jean du Gard or Anduze. We can help to organise taxi shares and are happy to collect you from the village of St Andre de Valborgne and bring you to Gardoussel.
BUSES
Buses run regularly from Nîmes and Alès to St Jean du Gard. Occasional buses continue right through to St Andre de Valborgne. We can provide taxi from St Jean du Gard to Gardoussel costing 20 EUROS each way. Here are the timetables for the buses:-

FLIGHTS
Our closest international airport is Nîmes (served by budget airline Ryanair) followed by Montpellier (Ryanair and British Airways) and then Marseilles (Buzz and British Airways, among others).
HIRE CARS
All the airports have hire car depots. Montpellier and Nîmes are about 1hr 30 mins from Gardoussel, Marseille 2-and-a-half , Lyon 5+ and Paris 6-7 hours. Having a hire car is useful as it allows you to explore the local area further afield in your free time. If you are coming in a group, it is also a cost-viable alternative to a shared taxi, since the cost of hiring a vehicle is about the same as the cost of the taxi runs. If you are interested in volunteering to hire the vehicle and act as driver, let us know so we can help you organise this.
